Rob Cartolano Elected DuraSpace Board-Member-at-Large


Robert is Associate Vice President for Digital Programs and Technology Services at Columbia Libraries.  His recent accomplishments include the development of a digital preservation storage system, the opening of three new digital centers, as well as a Blacklight-based CLIO (Columbia Libraries Information Online) discovery service. Formerly he was the Director of the Library Information Technology Office at Columbia. In addition, Robert has also been a key leader in the efforts over the last several years to bring Fedora 4 forward.

"I’m grateful for my election to the DuraSpace Board and I remain strongly committed to supporting national and local efforts to build sustainable approaches to digital preservation and access," said Cartolano. "I fully support DuraSpace's initiatives to better serve the needs of community source projects while developing new and innovative services."

According to the DuraSpace.org press release, "In March, everyone from the community, both DuraSpace members and non-members, were invited to nominate individuals to serve as the Board-Member-at-Large. The election took place in April and included 13 candidates from around the globe. Votes were cast by a representative from each DuraSpace member institution.
