How do we address mistrust that exists on both sides of the reference desk? The goal of the Diversity in Librarianship panel series is to create space for discussion, expand our understanding of issues and challenges faced by our Black, Indigenous, and Persons of Color (BIPOC) library colleagues and users, and hopefully generate constructive ideas for better practices. This discussion series invites participants to present on their involvement in projects that stand at the crossroads of research institutions and community engagement and to share experiences related to inequality, racism, and homogeneity.

The inaugural panel will focus on Indigenous librarianship and research. Library professionals Jonna C. Paden and Skylee-Storm Hogan-Stacey will present on their work to support research on Indigenous histories through oral history projects, library and archival collection development, and community outreach. There will be an opportunity for audience participation following presentations.
